Chris' Anti-Urgency Playlist

Updated: Feb 14

We've been diving deep into the issue of "urgency culture" this summer through a four-part blog series with writer Lydia Philip.

Drawing from its roots in colonization and extractive capitalism, urgency culture can lead to burnout, short-term thinking, and an emphasis on quick wins over long-term systemic change. Evenings & Weekends consultant Chris Wilson created this playlist to mark the end of Lydia's blog series, and to remind us all to slow down, breathe deep, and choose sustainability over urgency.

As a cultural programmer, Chris manages major music and cultural events in Toronto and sits on the Board of the Polaris Music Prize and It's Ok*, an independent Black-led and operated, interdisciplinary, multipurpose arts space.

Listen to Chris' playlist on Spotify, or wherever you get your music.

Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that the sacred land that we live, work, dream and rest on is the traditional territories of the Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Anishinabeg, Mississaugas of the Credit and Attiwonderonk. We believe that reconciliation and mending relations with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples is our collective responsibility, which requires ongoing reflection and action.
